We've got a great group of scouts that have all been to summer camp before. So I'll just hit the high points on packing.
Scouts need to remember that food, snacks, candy cannot be stored in tents and must be put into the trailer overnight.
Please prepare for hot weather, warm to hot nights, and rain with mud (and lightning).
All shoes should be closed toed. Crocs, water shoes, or sandals that protect the toes are all good. Open-toed slides aren't.
Key Items to not Forget
water bottle
towel
swimsuit
rain jacket
pillow
bug spray
sunscreen
Medications:
The scouts are not allowed to have any type of medication on them or in their pack at any time during camp. This includes ibuprofen, allergy, tylenol, prescription. These MUST be turned in to an adult leader at check in. The parent will fill out a form and these will be tracked and handed out as needed or prescribed by the adult leader or the Camp Nurse. Please prepare ahead of time to have these packaged up and ready to hand over at check in at NUMC.
Spending cash:
There is a small store that the scouts can buy snacks, candy and scout equipment at. We recommend $20 cash (small bills). The scout is responsible for their own money. The adult leaders will not hold or maintain money for the scouts.
